Chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Saturday said that Advocate Jalil ul Qadr Andrabi was among the “pioneers of the present struggle who was romantically involved with freedom struggle”.
While addressing a seminar organized by the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) here at Saddar Court Complex Sanathgarh Qamarwari, tilled, ‘Kashmir Cause and Sacrifices of our Martyrs’, Malik said that besides being a successful jurist and a great intellectual, Andrabi was a courageous person who always cared and worked for the betterment of society and even sacrificed his life for the sacred cause.
Malik said, “The struggle and sacrifice given by this brother of ours has honoured us and this nation can never forget his courage, passion and sacrifices.”
JKLF chief said that after receiving threats Jalil was advised to stay away from Kashmir but he refused to do so and “courageously continued his struggle and sacrificed his life for the sacred cause”.
Malik said, “the nation of Kashmir has sacrificed lot for freedom but we need to show resilience, one face approach, dedication and steadfastness in the struggle.”
“We are duty bound to continue the struggle for freedom that has been nourished by the sacred blood of our martyrs like Shaheed I Insaaf and no oppressive measure can deter us from this path,” he said.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued to KNS, in connection with the “martyrdom day” of advocate Andrabi, Qur’an Khawani was held at JKLF headquarter and other JKLF district offices.
JKLF leaders, activists and admirers of martyrs in large numbers participated in the prayers meetings. “A prayer meeting for martyrs was also held on the occasion,” JKLF spokesperson said.
He said that during the prayers meeting, special prayers were also held for ailing JKLF supreme leader Aman Ullah Khan who is ill from last many days. “Participants prayed for the speedy recovery of the great leader who has sacrificed his whole life for the freedom of Kashmir” he said.
While expressing concern over the deteriorating health condition of Aman, JKLF chief appealed the nation of Kashmir to pray for his speedy recovery.
Meanwhile, JKLF chairperson has condemned police teargas shelling on peaceful protesters of Maisuma and Kokerbazar during which many women have also been injured.
Malik while condemning the police action said, “peaceful protests and peoples voices are being suppressed by police force which speaks volumes about the oppression unleashed by India in Jammu Kashmir.”
Malik also prayed for the speedy recovery of injured women.
J&K High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Saturday organized a seminar titled ‘Kashmir Cause and Sacrifices of our Martyrs’ on Saturday.
The seminar began at around 11am at Saddar Court Complex Sanathgarh Qamarwari, here.
The speakers paid tributes to Advocate Jaleel Andrabi who, after his arrest, was martyred in custody and whose body was recovered from Jhelum on March 27, 1996.
The Bar also remembered Advocate Abdul Qadir Sailani, Advocate Muhammad Sultan Bhat, Advocate Peer Hussam-ud-Din and Sheikh Muhammad Hussain.
On the invitation of Bar Association various pro-freedom leaders or their representatives, intellectuals, human rights activists, journalists and members of the civil society are participating in the seminar.
