Pulwama milk production leader, time to replicate success stories in other areas: Dr Samoon

While complimenting farmers of Pulwama for being leader in milk production in Kashmir valley, Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep husbandry and fisheries Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon stressed on coordinated efforts to replicate success stories of area in other districts has more potential to enhance the milk and poultry  production in the valley and   Govt is taking various steps to improve the quality and quantity of livestock in the district .

He said this after inaugurating the FMDCP &NLM Programme at Kakapora .

Dr Samoon said that with the launch of these initiatives, the livestock population in the district will be free from different diseases, thus boosting the income of the farmers associated with the sector. He also said that govt has launched various schemes to boost the economy of farmers which include setting up poultry units, dairy and sheep farms with attractive incentives.

Dr Samoon reiterated that Government is committed to make livestock sector one of the promising investment sectors in the state.

He directed concerned officials to create awareness among the young unemployed youth for setting up income generating units of livestock.

Later, he distributed poultry birds under NLM among 40 beneficiaries of the area.

Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir  Dr Purnima Mittal, Joint Direct Poultry, Joint Director Frozen Semen, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, DIO and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
