J&K Police have arrested a notorious car thief and recovered eight stolen vehicles on his instance.
“Acting on specific information, a police party of Police Station Batamaloo apprehended a notorious car thief Bashir Ahmad Sheikh @ Bashir Nindra resident of Char-i-Sharief Budgam. Police recovered six Maruti cars, a Tavera vehicle and a load carrier (Tata-207) on his instance,” JKP spokesperson said in its daily bulletin issued to press.
“During investigation it surfaced that he has stolen two vehicles from Batamaloo and Karan Nagar area of district Srinagar and other six vehicles from district Islamabad.
Bashir Ahmad had changed number plates of all these vehicles; however there seems no tampering in engine and chassis numbers. A case FIR number 09/2016 under section 379 RPC has been registered in Police Station Batamaloo and further investigation is going on,” the spokesperson said, “The accused is also involved in a case FIR number 110/2015 under section 377 RPC of Police Station Batamaloo.”
Meanwhile, minor was injured in a road accident in Natipora area here last evening.
A motorcycle bearing registration number JK02F-5745 hit and injured a 10 years old boy identified as Mohammad Hanan Rather son of Shabir Ahmad Rather resident of Natipora at Asthan Mohalla Natipora in District Srinagar. The injured was shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar for treatment,” the spokesperson added.
