Cordon and search operations in restive South Kashmir’s Tral town have become the “order of the day” while locals alleged that military operations on daily basis have hit their business badly.
Locals told CNS that from past three days, forces including 42 Rashtriya Rifles, 180, 182 CRPF Battalions, Special Operations Group personnel have been continuously laying siege around different hamlets of the town as a result people face immense problems. “This was the third consecutive day when forces cordoned off Dadsara area of the town and started search operations to flush out ‘militants’. The search operation takes hours together and during that time life gets paralyzed,” locals said.
They said that from last three days, forces have been cordoning off Naibugh, Dadsara and Noorpora on daily basis. “During all these operations, they could not locate a single militant. Without proper inputs these government forces personnel carry out operations resulting in the disruption of normal activities,” the locals said.
Locals said that on Tuesday when forces again cordoned off Dadsara area, the agitated people resorted to massive stone-pelting. “The clashes continued for hours disrupting vehicular movement on the roads while shopkeepers too closed their normal business,” they said.
