All India 12th ‘Gufran Memorial’ Tourney from May 2016

In order to boost the sports activities in the region and to provide the platform to the local cricketers of the state, the Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) Doda is going to conduct prestigious “All India 12th Gufran Memorial T-20 Cricket Championship-2016” from Ist week of May 2016 at Sports Stadium Doda.

Addressing media, patron YSCC Doda Manzoor Ahmed Bhat said, “after successful conduct of 11th National Level Cricket events, YSCC is now conducting All India 12th Gufran Memorial T-20 Cricket Championship from Ist week of May 2016 which is scheduled to be held at Sports Stadium Doda in Jammu and Kashmir State.”

“In this tournament, teams from around 20 states of the country will participate, besides teams from Jammu and Kashmir are also participating. The club is also trying to bring in some international clubs for this tournament for which negotiation is going on as last year one abroad club from Bangladesh also participated and clinch the final trophy,” he said.

Manager YSCC Mehboob Kraipak while speaking on the occasion said, “it has been decided that the matches of first round would be played on knock out basis while for second round, the matches will be played on league basis whereas four teams will play directly quarter final matches. The matches would be officiated by BCCI Current Ranji Trophy Umpires from Delhi.”

Meanwhile, Chairman Gufran Tournaments, Prof Zaheer Abass Hahmi said, “YSCC Doda is providing a platform to the youth of this region and state as well to harness their capabilities in the field of sports and explore their talent. This event would not only boost the sports activities but also promote the tourism sector in the state.”
