‘We Need More Time’, BJP tells Governor

KL Report

SRINAGAR

A day after PDP chief Mehbooba held one-to-meeting with Governor NN Vohra for almost 90 minutes to discuss government formation, BJP state leadership Thursday met Vohra and discussed government formation in the state but sought more time to form the government.

BJP leader Jugal Kishore after meeting the governor said that the party is not in a hurry to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Talks for a stable government in Jammu and Kashmir have been initiated. As soon as we arrive at a decision we will convey it to the governor and the people,” he said.

He also said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a mandate to the BJP to form the government in the state.

He also added that the talks with other parties are going on and their main priority is to provide a stable government to the state.

Pertinently, after December 23 assembly poll results threw up a hung verdict, no party has, so far, claimed to form government. A day before, on Wednesday, PDP chief after meeting Vohra, said, “We have support of 55 MLAs in the state. But it is our intention and effort that a stable government is formed here to address the huge problems faced by the people in the state.

“We want that the agenda of development and peace should be carried forward. We want Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s peace process be carried to its logical conclusion.” She, however, did not clearly specify a PDP-BJP alliance in the state.
