Pandits held protest in Lal Chowk area and alleged that they are not being “taken seriously”.

They appealed to initiate a “serious dialogue” with the leadership of the migrant Pandit community for its resettlement.

“We would return only when our geo-political aspirations as per Margdarshan resolution are fulfilled through political and constitutional means,” Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, an organisation representing Kashmiri Pandits said.

“It is the secessionist forces who were responsible for the migration of Kashmiri Pandits from the valley,” he said.

He also called for the early passage of the Kashmiri Temples and Shrines Bill in the state legislature.

Pertinently, Kashmiri pandits left the valley immediately after the start of the armed struggle.
