SRINAGAR
Much to the dismay of people Srinagar city and all other major towns of the plains in the valley get nothing more than a little rain Thursday.
However, Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed for traffic after rain and snowfall along the highway.
Officials said that the highway is being cleared of stranded vehicles.
MeT sources said that there has been around 40 centimetres deep snowfall in Gulmarg, one centimetre in Pahalgam and two centimetres in Bhaderwah.
However, they said that rain and snowfall is likely to occur during the next 24 hours after which the weather would start improving.
Due to nightlong cloud cover, there was improvement in minimum temperatures across the state.
The minimum temperature in Srinagar city was 1.8 degrees Celsius. It was minus 4 degrees Celsius in Gulmarg and zero degrees Celsius in Pahalgam.
