In a sarcastic attack on right wing Bhartiya Janta Party and Peoples Democratic Party as the two parties are attempting coalition in state, former Chief Minister and working president National Conference, Omar Abdullah Friday after noon took to Twitter, and asked which of the two parties will compromise over the AFSPA.
Pertiently, PDP in its manifesto, had said that if the party comes to power it shall revoke AFSPA while BJP vows to continue it saying armed forces stationed in restive Jammu and Kashmir ‘need’ it.
“Who will compromise over the issue of immediate withdrawal of AFSPA @jkpdp or @BJP4India,” he wrote.
After December 23, 2014 assembly election results, PDP and BJP are in hectic parleys to form the new dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir as Jammu gave a landslide mandate to BJP while PDP – major political party, won 25 seats from valley.
Though, the political parties have six months to form the government as state is under Governor’s rule but all eyes are set on Rajya Sabha elections slated for Febrauary 7. The results may suggest the future alliance between the parties. Though, Independent MLAs-elect might have a major say, if “understanding between the parties did not materialise”.
