BJP says, negotiation process with PDP to start next week

In a luncheon meeting at union finance minister Arun Jaitely’s Delhi residence on Thursday, the BJP leaders told newsmen that National Conference has expressed its desire to revive the talks with the BJP on government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.

After a high profile meeting between NC and BJP, the process was earlier abandoned. In last two days, BJP leaders said they are getting “vibes” to revive the process.

The meeting which was attended by BJP president Amit Shah along with MoS Home Jitendra Singh and the party incharge of J&K Ram Madhav, the leader said that BJP didn’t approach NC.

The leader confirmed that the BJP and the PDP are both in touch through informal channels, but there is strong possibility the process getting formalized after this weekend. The leaders also said an alliance between the two parties is landmine for both, but PDP is at a larger risk.

BJP leaders present on the occasion said the party is keen to prove that it is not untouchable in politics. They said if PDP has the issue of revoking AFSPA, BJP would like a fresh delimitation for state assembly. They said that once the process starts, both the parties will come up with issues and negotiate a common ground.

Interestingly, BJP leaders revealed that most of the PDP lawmakers are supportive of a handshake with BJP, except one.
