J&K police on Wednesday claimed to have solved a mobile shop burglary that took place four days ago in the heart of Kishtwar town at new bus stand area. The police arrested one person from whose possession the stolen items were recovered.
While addressing a press conference at police station Kishtwar, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir said that on 23-10-2016, police station Kishtwar received some information about the burglary at a mobile shop: Farhan Communication at new bus stand Kishtwar wherein the complainant stated that some unidentified buglers enter into his shop by breaking the locks of the shutter and decamped with value able items from his shop including mobile phones, memory cards, SIM cards and other costly items valuing about Rs 180160.
He said that on the basis of the complaint lodged by the complainant, police registered an FIR number 187/2016 u/s 457/380 RPC at Police Station Kishtwar and started its investigation.
“Police visited the scene of the crime and collected some evidence from the spot,” he said, “accordingly, a team comprised of Dy SP Headquarter Kishtwar Touseef Rishu and SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jeelani started working on the leads and zeroed in on various suspects.”
He said that after receiving inputs from local sources through a commoner, police got clues and accordingly carried out raid at a private accommodation of the accused “from where police party recovered the stolen items”.
“During search of rented house at Tapal Market Kishtwar – where the accused was staying – police recovered 52 stolen mobiles recovered,” he said.
The police identified the detained person as Tanveer Ahmed, son of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Srawan Keshwan in district Kishtwar at present Tapal Mohallah Kishtwar.
He said that among other recoveries are 51 pen drives/memory cards, SIM cards, Torches 3 Nos, 10 bundles of electric wires and other material amounting approximately Rs 180160.
In a question whether the accused was alone involved in the burglary, the SSP Kishtwar said, “police are yet to question the arrested person.”
“We have arrested him only few hours ago; we are yet to investigate on the modus operandi used by him in carrying out the burglary – let police question him first, only then we will be able to know whether the accused was involved in any other theft case,” said the SSP Kishtwar while addressing media personnel at Police Station Kishtwar.
