At six persons were injured during clashes between forces and civilians on Monday.
Rashtriya Rifles (RR) raided Rahmoo village this morning after which clashes erupted.
“The army men said that they want to carry out search operation which they did by cordoning whole area,” reports said, “but when they started bringing down pro-freedom banners and flags, people came out of their homes and protests erupted.”
The army sensing “trouble” had resorted to aerial firing to scare people. “But people in hordes came out raising pro-freedom slogans,” an eye witness said.
“People from adjoining villages of Karimabad, Murran and Mantrigam came and joined the demonstrations,” he added.
The reports said that police and CRPF men were rushed to the area and clashes intensified. “At least six persons sustained injuries and they are being treated in PHC Rahmoo.”
People of Rahmoo and Karimabad have installed banners with pictures of slain local militants. Armed forces many a times attempted to bring down the banners but locals have been resisting the moves.
