Congress leaders on Saturday handed over relief cheques to 120 families of Sukhni in Wadwan. The relief was sanctioned by the Congress High Command.
Congress’s state president G A Mir announced Rs 30,000 to each family besides 10 blankets out of MPLAD of Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Gulam Nabi Azad. That part of the relief will be distributed by the District Development Commissioner shortly.
Accompanied by various Congress leaders including lawmaker G M Saroori, Mir reached out to fire sufferers of Sukhnai after almost trekking the long distance. They made on spot assessment of the damages and the problems confronting the devastated families.
Terming the incident unfortunate and painful, Mir assured the affected families of every possible help from the Congress party. He blamed BJPDP government for failing in reaching out to the affected at this time of need.
