#Day88: ‘To Restore Peace’, Army Interacts With Bakerwals in Shopian

Making all out efforts “to restore peace and harmony” by strengthening the bond between Awaam and Jawan, an Army camp based in Shopian organized regular interactions with the local populace.

“In the continuation of same efforts,” a statement issued by the army camp said on Tuesday evening, “Commanding Officer, Army Camp, Shopian interacted with the Gujjars and Bakerwals who are crossing Pir Panjal range during reverse migration.”

The statement said that during interaction, “Gujjar Bakerwal community conveyed the hardship faced by them while migrating due to protests and bandh calls.”

However, the statement said, “they also thanked the Army for ensuring peace in routes of migration by constant presence.”

The Commanding Officer Shopian Camp, the army statement said, “conveyed them that the security forces are always open to them for any assistance and assured that all possible help will be extended to ensure safe migration of the community.”

A total of 174 deras have migrated through Shopian area and crossed the Pir Panjal Range.

The Shopian based Army camp along with sheep department, district Veterinary department are extending all possible help to assist the Gujjar and Bakerwal community at established reception and assistance points (RASP) at Dubjan and Gaddar area, the statement added.
