Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Ch Zulfikar Ali, who is also the Chairman of DDB Kupwara, Tuesday chaired District Development Board meeting and reviewed the pace of on-going developmental projects being executed under district sector in Kupwara.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Rural Development, PRI & Law Justice Abdul Haq, Member Parliament Fayaz Ahmad Mir, MLA KupwaraMr Bashir Ahmad Dar, MLA Karnah Raja Manzoor, MLA Langate Engineer Abdul Rashid, along with HoDs, District/Sectorial Officers, an official spokesperson said this evening.
Chairing the meeting the Minister stressed for full utilization of funds allocated under the plan ensuring timely completion of on-going projects.
Expressing his satisfaction over the work done under R&B, PHE, Social Welfare, Education, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Health Agriculture, Horticulture, Rural Development and other departments, Zulfkar Ali said that everyone has to contribute to make an effective mechanism which would serve people in a better manner.
The Minister appreciated the officers for completion of various developmental works and stressed upon them to work with missionary zeal and achieve the targets well in time fixed for the current fiscal.
Recalling the commitments made by the late Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed during the previous Board meetings, the Chairman said that the Government would ensure that all commitments made by Mufti sahib are fulfilled on priority basis, including the developmental works to be done in Kupwara.
Zulfkar Ali said that the Government is committed for the equitable development of the state. He said that no one would be allowed to disrupt the peaceful environment in the State, and asked police officials to safeguard the life and property of common people.
Stressing on the judicious use of resources, the Minister impressed upon the officers to put their sincere and dedicated efforts for proper utilization of the funds allocated under various schemes to create valuable assets in border areas.
He also directed HODs to conduct frequent field visits to monitor the quality and pace of developmental works. He thanked all the public representatives for their support and asked the officers to take into confidence the local representatives while preparing developmental projects.
The Chairman assured that due consideration would be given to the suggestions and demands projected by the legislators in the meeting with regard to development of area.
Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Law & Justice, Abdul Haq, speaking on the occasion, said that the officers should be pro-active in redressing the public grievances.
Giving detailed account of development activities being carried out in the district during the current fiscal year through power point presentation, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Rajeev Ranjan informed that 71 per cent available funds have been booked under expenditure on various developmental works in district Kupwara till ending September.
The meeting was informed that under MGNREGA, 4053 works have been completed that generated 2.5 lakh man-days of work, besides, 65 Panchayat Ghars have been completed during the current fiscal year.
It was further given out that 71 per cent of expenditure has been booked against the available funds.
The meeting was informed that under R&B sector, three important bridges have been completed and six bridges are targeted for completion during this financial year, while 17 KM road has been macadamized.
Under PMGSY, the roads would be constructed to connect 21 new habitations at an estimate cost of Rs 104 crore.
Under RMSA, seven High School buildings have been completed, while under SSA, 69 Primary School buildings, three Middle school buildings, 348 ACRs have been completed.
Under PHE sector, 18 schemes worth Rs 19 crore are near completion which should provide potable drinking water to 38,000 souls of the District.
16 ST Tanks and one Lift Irrigation Scheme are targeted to be completed during the current fiscal, the meeting was informed.
Giving details about stock supply position of essential commodities in the district, it was revealed that cent percent stocking of food grains for winter months in Keran has been done, while as the process of stocking of food grains for Machil, Jumgund, Kamkadi, Budnambal& Karnah would be completed by the 15th of current Month.
Moreover, Rs 12 crore plan under PMKSY stands approved for the District for which action have been initiated, the meeting was informed.
