At least four shops and a rooftop covering eight other adjoining shops were gutted in a blaze in Iqbal market of Kupwara town on Friday late evening, reports said.
Reports said that the fire broke out around 7:30 PM from a shop and soon engulfed adjoining shops.
The fire tenders, police and locals mostly shopkeepers worked hard to douse the raging fire that lasted for about an hour.
The cause of fire could not be known immediately, a police official said.
Locals said the shopkeeper’s lost goods worth crores of rupees in the incident.
