KU missing student: students continue to protest on 4th consecutive day, varsity appeals for calm

The students of Kashmir University mostly the students of Geology department held a protest demonstration on the fourth consecutive day, today seeking whereabouts of their missing batch-mate, Sameer Ahmed.

Scores of the students assembled outside the KU’s Geology department seeking whereabouts of the missing student, Sameer Ahmed Dar, son of Mohammad Subhan Dar, a resident of Gandi Bagh Kakapora district of south Kashmir. Sameer is enrolled in the 2nd semester, post graduation in the Geology department.

Reports said that class work in various departments was disrupted today as the students left their department and assembled at the lawn of Humanities department.

Meanwhile, the University expressing concern over continuous student protests over the mysterious missing of a student, the Vice Chancellor Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi said that they are equally concerned about the missing student.

The VC has urged the students to maintain calm and assured that the University is regularly in touch with the police authorities to ascertain the student’s whereabouts.

The spokesman added that University reiterates its appeal to the agitating students to maintain a peaceful atmosphere on the campus, and also impressed upon the state authorities to proactively help trace the student’s whereabouts.
