Students protest in Uri, seek proper infrastructure

The students of the Government High School Noorkhah of Uri town on Tuesday held a protest demonstration against the R&B Department for delaying the handover of the school building to the education department.

Scores of the students assembled at Muzaffarabad-Srinagar road and hampered the traffic movement for hours.

The protesting students said that condition of their old school is pathetic, even as some portions of it are damaged. “The R&B has completed the building long ago but we have no idea why are they delaying it for no reasons,” said a student.

Residents of the village said that they had been requesting the concerned authorities to look into the matter as the students are suffering badly. But even after complaining about it time and again there was no initiative taken by authorities.

The protestors also raised slogans against the officials of the concerned Department for letting students suffer for no reasons.

when contacted Zonal Educational Officer Chandanwari, Uri he said that administration has now opened two rooms of the new building and further queries will be addressed soon.
