Over 1.20 lac candidates appearing for board exams across Kashmir

More than 67,000 students of class 10th and 55,000 students of class 12th are appearing in annual board examinations this year across Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday.

While class 12 examinations started today on Wednesday, Class 10 examinations will begin on Thursday.

Officials said that as many as 1144 examination centres have been set up across the Kashmir division. “Among the centres 496 have been designated fir Class 12 examinations while 650 have been set up for Class 10 examinations,” the official said.

He said that the J&K state board of school education has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the examinations.

On Tuesday, District Administration Srinagar issued magisterial orders imposing prohibitory restrictions under Section 144 CrPc within a radius of 200 meters around examination centres of the district for smooth conduct of annual regular secondary and higher secondary school examinations.

It was said that the move is aimed at to ensure free and fair conduct of the exams and shall remain in force till the examination is over. However, examinees, supervisory staff, and security personnel deployed for conducting the examinations shall be exempted from the operation of the orders.

Tehsildars North, South, Shalteng, Khanyar and Eidgah and concerned Naib Tehsildars have been designated as magistrates and checking squads respectively to ensure smooth conduct of the exams in their respective jurisdictions.
