SRINAGAR: A young man is reported injured as a mixed column of police, CRPF and army are fighting a gun battle with the militants, reports from Budgam said.
Confirming the injury, a senior police officer identified him as Sayar Ahmad. “He has received an injury in his mouth but he is stable,” the officer said. “It is a bullet that seemingly has touched it.” The injured was evacuated to the hospital and later referred to Srinagar.
Police said the operation was the outcome of a specific information that at least three militants were hiding in the Futlipora village. These include two foreigners and a local, they said.
The entire belt surrounding the spot of teh encounter has voluntarily closed. These include the areas falling in Budgam and Pulwama districts. Already, Rajpora – the closet area to teh spot, was tensed over the mass marshalling of teh youth by the army on Sunday. Authorities have shut the internet services in the area.
