Mercury dipped to lowest in Kargil in Ladakh making it the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir, met office said.
Kargil recorded a minimum temperature of minus 10.4 degrees Celsius, nearly six degrees than previous nights minus 4.6 degrees Celsius. It experienced the coldest night of the winter so far.
However, its sister district of Leh registered an increase in the night temperature as the mercurry there settled at minus 8.5 degrees Celsius. Leh had recorded a low of minus 10.6 degrees Celsius yesterday.
Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius -0.2 degrees more than yesterday.
The famous hill resorts of Pahalgam in southern part of Kashmir and Gulmarg in northern part of Kashmir recorded a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius and minus 1.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The night temperature in other towns of Kashmir division settled at minus 1.6 degrees Celsius (Qazigund), 1.1 degrees Celsius (Kokernag).
The weathermen has forecast mainly dry weather in the state for today, but predicted light rains or snowfall at isolated places in the state over two days afterwards.
