Srinagar
Two women have suffered pellet injuries during clashes in northern Kashmir’s Hajin township in Bandipora district.
The clashes erupted after the forces laid a siege to Bon Mohalla area of the township after inputs about presence of militants there.
Reports quoting local sources said that intense protests erupted soon after the Army’s 13 RR, cops from J&K police’s special operations group (SOG) and CRPF personnel of 45 battalion launched CASO in Bon Mohalla Hajin.
“Scores of people came out on roads against the presence of government forces in the area. Protests erupted and forces fired pellets injuring two ladies. The injured ladies were treated at a local health facility,” they said.
They said that as the protests intensified the forces called-off the search operation.
Meanwhile, police officials said that the CASO was called off as no contact was established with the militants.
He denied use of pellets on the protesters.
