Residents of Poshpora, Kunan, Babagund and Trehgam area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district are up in arms against the Power Development Department as they are facing unscheduled power cuts.
According to reports, unscheduled and extended power cuts have started aggravating the woes of locals in these areas have been witnessing frequent cuts putting the consumers to inconvenience to both metered and unmetered areas in Kupwara District.
As annual exams are going on of different classes, the unscheduled power cut is giving tough time to the students throughout the valley.
The situation worsened after the Darbar moved to Jammu. The students apeearing in varius board exams and other classes are suffering as many of them don’t have alternate source of lighting system.
While some of the students who are appearing in their annual exams have been repeatedly complaining regarding the unscheduled power cuts, but they allege nothing has happened to mitigate their problems.
A student Fasil from District Kupwara who is appearing in the annual exams in medical stream said “I have a routine to study late in the night during exam times but unscheduled power cuts doesn’t allow us to open a book or note to prepare for a single minute as the power irks our normal study routine”.
“Despite being aware of the fact that students are appearing in the annual exams, authorities are in deep sleep and don’t pay heed to our sufferings” said Bushra.
Another student of the Poshpora village who is appearing in the BSC Ist semester annual exams said that “Under the candle light I can’t study, I couldn’t prepare myself for annual exams as my family can’t arrange a generator or inverter as my father is labour by profession, authorities should get involved into this matter.”
They appealed District Commissioner Kupwara to look into the natter.
