Shutdown in Rajpora against Army ‘assault’ on locals

A complete shutdown was observed in Rajpora area of Southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.

The shutdown was observed against the alleged army assault on locals.

All the shops and business establishments are shut while agitated youth pelted stones on Jammu Kashmir Bank branch forcing it to close the business.

According to locals, on Sunday, when interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma was busy interacting with different delegations, a group of army soldiers appeared in Rajpora and thrashed people irrespective of their age and gender.

“Army soldiers thrashed people including shopkeepers without any reason. Two shopkeepers identified as Mudasir Ahmed Wani and Muhammad Asif Wani suffered critical injuries. They were taken to District Hospital Pulwama where Doctors referred them to Bones and Joint Hospital Srinagar,” said locals.

Station House Officer Rajpora, Nisar Ahmed said that they have been investigating the matter as locals are claiming that they were beaten by some army soldiers. (CNS)
