In a significant move, the government Thursday ordered the appointment of renowned Urdu scholar and Assistant Professor in Government Degree College Kishtwar Dr Tariq Hussain Dev as new Administrator Auqaf Kishtwar.

He will replace Syed Mohammed Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kishtwar, who was holding additional charge of the same since last over a month.

The appointment of Dr Tariq Dev was welcomed by everyone including social and political activists, beside general public of Kishtwar also hailed the appointment.

As per details available with Kashmir Life, the order with regard to appointment of Dr Tariq Hussain Dev was made vide Government Order No 136-Rev-(H&A) of 2016 dated 06-10-2016 in terms of Section 20-A of J&K Waqaf Act 2001 issued by Commissioner Secretary to government, Revenue Department, through Deputy Secretary to Government, Revenue Department.

The appointment of Dr Tariq Dev as Administrator Auqaf Islamia comes at the time when Auqaf Islamia faces financial crises due recent massive pay hikes, unplanned construction works at various Ziyarats.

Approximately Rs 8 Lakh was spend on advertisement and promotion from accounts of Islamia School, College and Ziayarts and the amount allegedly transferred in some personal accounts of the employees as advance payments to carry out construction works.

There are also reports of some embezzlement of funds by some employees which is also under probe and the same not only need to be recovered, but people are also hoping for action against such employees of the department.
