Asking Delhi to clear the air about the debate going on over the “surgical strikes” by army against Pakistan, Kashmir’s main opposition National Conference (NC) has criticised chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for waking up after 88 days of uprising to meet the Prime Minister.

“There is a debate going on at present about whether there was any surgical strike carried by India against Pakistan after Uri attack,” newsgatherer KNS quoted Nasir Aslam Wani saying. “We believe that it is the GoI that has to clear the air and come out with the facts.”

Facts are with the government over “surgical strikes” and it is for the government to decide whether it will allow the debate going on or clear the confusion. “We cannot comment over the issue. It is the government that has to decide at an earliest,” Aslam said.

Reacting to the meeting of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti with the Prime Minister, NC said when more than 90 people were killed in last 88 days of uprising, Mehbooba’s meeting Modi carries least significance.

“It is bizarre that the chief minister whose state has been continuously reeling under unrest for 88 days has decided to meet the prime minister of the country. It should have been done prior to the killing of 90 youth, 7000 arrests, 650 PSAs and maiming of hundreds of civilians,” Nasir said. “She woke up too late.”
