Engineer Shaikh Abdul Rashid on Tuesday warned district administration Kupwara of dire consequences if it doesn’t stop slapping notorious Public Safety Act (PSA) on people in every nook and corner of the district.

Rashid represents Langate assembly segment in J&K Legislative Assembly.

“Security forces should be directed without any further excuses and delay to stop reign of terror,” he said in a statement issued this afternoon.

While participating in Review Meeting of District Development Board Kupwara, the statement said Rashid had exchange of heated arguments with PDP Ministers and explained in detail that government should not mislead itself by equating holding of review meetings with normalcy.

He warned police and civil administration who were present in the meeting, “not to cross the limits and stop terrorising and humiliating people in Kralpora, Sogam, Lalpora, Langate, Kralgund, Unsoo, Kulangam, Magam,  Trehgam and other places”.

“Pointing towards senior police officers who were present in the meeting,” the statement quoting Rashid said, “you can’t justify slapping people with draconian public safety act nor have you any justification to break public and private property and destroy thousands of houses in entire district Kupwara.”

He confronted rural development minister for slapping PSA on 72 year old Numberdar of village Natnoosa, “as Haq Khan said the Numberdar had allegedly provoked people for stone pelting and Rashid responded saying that if minister is himself claiming Numberdar’s alleged involvement, how could it be the sufficient ground to book him under PSA”.

He warned administration to mend its behaviour and threatened to launch Gherao of district SP and DC’s offices, if government will not mend its ways.

The MLA Langate also confronted CAPD Minister for his remarks against protestors and reiterated that Kashmiris have been forced to take to streets and prolong the strike due to continuous denial of New Delhi to resolve J&K dispute.
