#Day88: Mobile Internet Services Restore In Chenab Valley

Much to the delight of over two lakh mobile connection holders, the government of Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday restored the mobile internet services in three districts of Chenab valley viz Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban at around 3:40 PM.

As per the details available with Kashmir Life, the Divisional Administration today held a meeting of top officials which included the IG Police of Jammu region as well wherein it was decided to restore the mobile internet services in three districts of Chenab valley after normalcy returned in the region.

The internet services in the three districts of Chenab valley was suspended on August 5, 2016 after widespread protests in the region over civilian killings in Kashmir in wake of Hizb commander Burhan Wani’s killing by forces on July 08, 2016.

The sources informed the Kashmir Life that the though mobile internet services were restored but the authorities are keeping close eye on the use of the social media.

“In case any provocative material or stuff that can trigger violence, the services will again be suspended,” they said.

The sources further informed that in case “any person misuses the services that could lead to any law and order situation”, the action will be initiated against such people under relevant sections of IT Act.

Meanwhile, the student community and the businessmen welcomed the restoration of mobile internet services in the area and hoped that the government will not suspend the services in future.
