Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Ms Yasha Mudgal has been attached to the state’s General Administration Department, informed sources said. No causes were given by the officials this reporter talked to.
Reports suggested that she will be succeeded by senior KAS officer Khalid Jehangir.
Associated with state’s home department for a long time, Jehangir has been the long-time personal assistant of former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
No reason for shifting the senior scale IAS officer was given.
Interestingly, however, PDP MLA Javed Mustafa Mir on Saturday was seen weaving clipping of a newspaper in the house that suggested an IAS officer had cut its wrist and was barely saved by the attendants.
Mir wanted the government to inform the house that if an officer cannot control the personal emotions, how that officer can be entrusted with a sensitive posting.
The newspaper report said that the officer was visited by a senior IAS officer during the day. After the guest returned visibly upset, the host IAS officer was found unconscious in the room with blood flowing out of the wrist. Immediately, the officer was driven to the hospital where doctors intervened.
The issues may be investigated by the state bureaucracy and the guest may have to answer some uncomfortable questions, reports suggest.
It was not immediately known if the newspaper report has any links to the shifting of DC Baramulla.
