In 2015-16, Baba Reshi Gave J&K Government Rs 27449166

The State Wakaf Board has made an income of more than Rs 23 crore for 2015-16 financial year from different shrines and other institutions including Bait ul Mal, Press, Education, orchards.

This was revealed in the state assemble on Wednesday by Minister for Haj and Auqaf in a reply to the query raised by ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Lawmaker, Yasir Reshi in Upper House.

The total income from 53 shrines that are managed by Wakaf Board for the year 2015-2016 is Rs 171734609/-.

Baba Reshi Shrine near Gulmarg in Baramulla district tops in the donations it receives annually among other 53 shrines managed by government.

It provided an income of Rs 27449166/-, the highest in the state by any shrine followed by Hazratbal Shrine with income of Rs 26543891/-

Old city’s Makhdoom Sahib Shrine and Dastageer Sahib provided Rs 25733022/- and Rs 13104138/- for the said year.

The average income from the shrines remained Rs 32 lakh in 2015-16.

The reply revealed that Peer Ki Gali Shrine in the Pir Panjal Range on Mughal Road in Shopian district made no income for the said period.

From other sources like Bait-Ul-mal, assets, press, Education, the Board generated the annual income of Rs 61076170/- during this period.
