Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday paid tributes to Peerzada Ghulam Jeelani. He was the last surviving member of J&K Constituent Assembly and breathed his last on June 27, 2016 in the evening.
Speaker Kavinder Gupta detailed the political career of late Jeelani and said that his contribution is huge.
Born on 1924 24 September at Pampore, Jeelani was first elected to Lower House of J&K Legislature in 1957 on National Conference ticket. He retained his seat in 1962.
From 1967 t0 1972, he was member of House of Elders.
Besides, he was elected as Chairman Town Area Committee, Pampore and was also elected as President Cooperation society Pampore during his active political career.
The Lawmakers observed a two-minute silence in his honour.
