The coming together of five brothers gave birth to Srinagar’s most reliable financial consultancy. Heena Muzzafar tells their story
Eleven years back when Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, now 47, started Wizkid Consultancy and Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., everyone was baffled by his choice of Srinagar for operations base. But soon he was to prove everyone wrong. And to realise this, Mushtaq, a trained Cost Accountant, was joined by his four brothers.
“It was all in the family,” said Mushtaq who has a specialisation in establishing the budget to manage costs and maximize profitability.
Within years, the coming together of Mir brother helped Wizkid venture into engineering consultation as well. In 2015, Wizkid opened a branch office in Gurgaon to deal with its growing foreign client base.
Meanwhile, Mushtaq’s younger brother Dr Showket Ahmad Mir, 44, a PhD in economics, who is currently writing a research paper on Economic Valuation of Dal Lake Ecosystem, Sustainability and Economic Valuation of river Jhelum in Kashmir Valley, proved vital for the consultancy.
“The idea behind Wizkid was to have a multidisciplinary and multi-state professional consultancy for finance, legal and engineering, all under one roof,” said Mushtaq.
Hailing from different professional backgrounds, Mir brothers added a dash of specialities to Wizkid.
While Nazir Ahmad Mir, 40, a graduate in computers, handles audits, administrative aspects and human resource related affairs of the consultancy, Nisar Ahmad Mir, who is in his late thirties, takes care of corporate finance and corporate strategic affairs of the company. Nisar has done MBA in Finance and Marketing from Institute of Chartered Financial Analyst of India, Pune.
Mushtaq’s youngest brother, Shabir Ahmad Mir, 35, is a Chartered Accountant. He is also an associate member of Institute of Chartered Accounts of India. “His rich experience is crucial for company,” said Mushtaq.
Shabir is expert in providing chartered accounting service, financial and consultancy service, internal and statutory auditing services, business process outsourcing services, income tax services and foreign collaboration services, along with import and export consultancy services.
Wizkid has worked with over a hundred private companies so far, including Peaks Automobiles Ltd, JK Paper Ltd, Flex Links etc. “We have also worked with fifteen government organisations till date,” said Mushtaq.
The goodwill earned by Wizkid in last eleven years has made it a reliable name among business houses. “We have a strong client base spread across India and abroad,” said Shabir.
Mir brothers take care of Wizkid’s operations from their Srinagar’s corporate office. There they deal in Accounting and Assurance, Tax Advisory, Corporate Law Advisory, Transaction Advisory, Corporate Finance, Market Research and Survey and NRI services, all engineering related affairs are run from a separate division located at Bagh Haider.
The engineering block deals in Topographical Surveys, Geo Tech Services and Investigations, Architectural Designs and Drawings, Project Management Services and Value Engineering, Environmental Impact Assessment and Solid and Liquid Waste Management. As of now, Mir brothers have over fifty employees working in their three offices.
“We are looking forward to take part in Corporate Social Responsibility by all possible means,” said Mushtaq, who is currently writing a research paper titled ‘Innovation Jammu and Kashmir’.
