In blatant violation of norms, the Jammu Kashmir Public Service Commission has conducted interviews for key positions in the Health Department of the state without intimating the prospective candidates about the interview dates.

According to officials, 33 candidates were supposed to appear in the interview for Lecturer Orthopaedics, 10 for the post of Assistant Director Health Service/DTO/Principal Regional, five for Medical Record Officer in Srinagar and Jammu and one in Lecturer Pathology.

The Commission held the interviews on June 28 and June 29 at its office in Solina, Srinagar, according to a notification issued by the PSC, which was also supposed to be publicized in two leading local dailies of Jammu and Kashmir as well as Doordarshan.

However, many aggrieved candidates said the Commission didn’t intimate them about the interview dates because of which they failed to appear for the test. According to sources, the notification wasn’t sent to the Information Department for publicity in media.

“I got to know about the interview dates while randomly checking the JKPSC website today. It came as a rude shock to find that the interview has already been conducted by the Commission a day earlier,” Rehana Khursheed, who was set to appear in the interview for the post of Assistant Director Health Service/DTO/Principal Regional, said.

Top officials in the Directorate of Information said the notification was not sent to the Department for publicity because of which it was not publicized in newspapers, “We didn’t get any notification from the PSC, so there is no question of failure in giving it due publicity,” a senior official at the Department, said.
