Independent MLA from Langate, Er Abdul Rasheed and Peoples Conference legislator from Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar, Wednesday “almost” exchanged blows in Lower House of the legislature had Assembly marshals and other legislators not intervened.

The issue cropped up when Dar was speaking in support of his private bill about some amendments. However, Er Rasheed commented during the speech, which infuriated Dar.

“Be in your sleeves,” Dar shouted towards Rasheed.

But Rasheed shouted back and the two entered into a verbal duel.

“Chai Pillane walle…..non sense…. I will expose you,” Dar shouted at Rasheed.

Rasheed retorted back, saying: “Lone Sahab Kay Ghadaaro”.

The two members got near to each other and almost exchanged blows.

But the marshals present in the House intervened. The legislators also tried to intervene and pacify the two angry members.

Sensing that the situation was aggravating, Speaker LA Kavinder Gupta adjourned the House for the day.

Meanwhile, Er Rasheed’s Awami Ittihaad Party (AIP) today strongly condemned “childish and rude” behaviour of MLA Kupwara with Er Rasheed in assembly.

Party spokesperson Inam Un Nabi in a statement issued here said, “Peoples Conference leadership should not get annoyed when they were reminded of their past.”

“It is ironical that Mr Dar used abusive language and passed derogatory remarks without having any merit in his shouting.   PC should either seek apology for its politics it played for more than two decades or should come out with reasonable logic for bidding good bye to Hurriyat,” Inam said.

“People have a right to know that those who persuaded Kashmiris to take up arms and sent them to martyrs graveyard, on what moral grounds are they now enjoying blessings of worst enemies of Kashmiris. In any civilised society the most complicated issues are discussed and then only a solution is reached based on justice and mutual respect but in the love of RSS and Sangh Parivar the younger brothers of Narendra Modi have started dreaming themselves more powerful than all institutions, moralities and logics,” he alleged.

Inam added, “proxies of Modi and Sakshi Mahraj cannot shut up our mouth. Those who have been paying tributes to martyrs of 21 and 22 May should seek answers from their previous constituents who are now proudly claiming themselves to be younger brothers of Modi.”

“What Er Rasheed has been doing in and outside assembly is like an open book and a day will come when AIP’s worst enemies will also recognise his pro Kashmiri and pro people struggle.”
