Women’s Day: J&K Bank Organizes Free Medical Camps for Women

Celebrating International Women’s Day, J&K Bank Tuesday organized ‘Free Medical Camps for Females Only’ at Iqbal Park in Srinagar and Rajinder Park in Jammu.

The camp at Srinagar was supported by the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) as the Institute provided a team of lady doctors across various faculties. Help Poor Voluntary Trust (HPVT), Abbott India Ltd. And SD Biosensor Health Care Pvt. Ltd also extended their support to the camp. While as the camp at Rajinder Park was organized in association with Maxxlyfe Hospital and Trauma Center.

More than 1200 women visited the twin medical camps in Srinagar and Jammu, wherein specialists in Gynecology (Dr Cimona L Saldanha, Dr Mehvish and Dr Uma Kohli), Ophthalmology (Dr Jasiya and Dr R K Mengi), Medicine (Dr Sheenam and Dr Dushyant Chowdhary), Orthopedics (Dr Harish Deng) and Endocrinology (Dr Mehroosa) examined, counselled and prescribed them treatment.

Women started making a beeline at Iqbal Park much before the published time and by 12 Noon more than 300 patients had already registered themselves for the medical check-up.

“Throughout the day, the temporary but check-up counters saw long queues of women from Srinagar and its adjacent areas, both young and middle-aged, waiting, chatting and making their ways towards the doctor’s counters,” J&K Bank said in a statement. “Around 700 women visited the camp at Iqbal Park.”

Around 500 patients visited Rajinder Park camp during the day, mostly middle-aged women from Jammu and its nearby areas, throughout the day and received free counseling and consultations from senior doctors.

“The bank distributed free medicines worth lacs among the patients who visited the camps. The Medicine was made available by HPVT, Abbott India Ltd. at Iqbal Park and  by Maxxlyfe Hospital and Trauma Center, Jammu  at Rajinder Park on the occasion.”

Also, more than 500 free investigations like Blood Sugar, Uric Acid, Lipid Profile, HB and HBA 1 (C) of the patients were conducted at the Clinical Labs set by SD Biosensor Health Care Pvt. Ltd. in Srinagar and Maxxlyfe in Jammu. The clinical lab at Jammu also conducted ECG’s on the occasion. The charges towards these clinical tests were paid by the bank on behalf of the patients.

Appreciating the Bank and others for free consultation, investigations and medicines, the visitors said that such camps need to be the regular feature in the bank’s generous endeavours.

“I have come from Tangmarg area because I am too poor to pay for doctors and buy medicines. This camp is a blessing for people like me and I pray the bank succeed in all its people-friendly endeavours,” said a middle-aged visitor while leaving the camp.
