The Principal Secretary Tourism, Sandip Naik, Wednesday, met the travel trade bodies KHARA, KHAROF, Hoteliers Club, Houseboat Owners Association at SKICC and received brief from them about their business activities.
The employees of SKICC and Cable Car Corporation also met the Principal Secretary and apprised about the issues pertaining to their career growth, an official spokesperson said this evening.
While interacting with the group members, he was briefed about the initiatives taken for promotion of tourism sector besides infrastructural development and operational methodology they have put in place for convenience of the visiting tourists.
A detailed discussion was held on the issues raised by the travel trade bodies who sought Government’s intervention in addressing problems the tourism traders are facing in running their business activities.
They demanded operation of night flights, checking of unnecessary price hike of air tickets during peak season, introduction of charted flights, giving industry status to the tourism sector and stopping frequent traffic police checks of vehicles ferrying tourists.
Naik assured the representatives of every possible support from the Government for running their business smoothly during ensuing tourist season 2016. He said the issues raised by the representatives during the interaction will be taken up with the Government and other concerned authorities.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Mehmood Shah, MD Cable Car Corporation, Nazir A Mir, Director SKICC, Yasmeen Khan, Dy Director Publicity Tourism Peerzada Zahoor and other senior officers from SKICC and Tourism Department were present in the meeting.
