‘Kashmiri Attacked in Russia Still Alive but Critical’

Speaking for the first to media, family of a Kashmiri who was attacked in Russia, Wednesday late evening revealed that their son was is “alive but critical”.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted that Yasir Javed had passed away.

Ali Mohammad Shirazi, uncle of Yasir, told a Srinagar based newspaper on phone from New Delhi, “Yasir showed some positive signs last night when his younger brother visited him at the trauma centre. Later, his condition deteriorated and he is in a critical state.”

Shirazi refuted reports suggesting that Yasir was a medical student. “Yasir is a businessman. And he had reached Russia on 26th February,” said Shirazi. “He was hit on the head by dacoits when he was returning to his hotel from a business expo on 3rd March.”
