As BJP elected Nirmal Singh as its legislative party leader, it adopted a resolution supporting its alliance with PDP. The two parties later appointed a coordination committee having two members each from the two parties, reports said.

Reports suggested that to discuss the issues related to the government formation are being handled by a four member core group. While BJP is represented by Nirmal Singh and Sat Sharma, PDP is represented by lawmakers Abdul Rehman Veeri and Dr Haseeb Drabu.

Interestingly, the BJP was supposed to have a meeting with governor N N Vohra early today ahead of PDP. It cancelled the meeting and instead decided to go jointly with PDP to Raj Bhawan. They have now been given a new timeslot for 3:30 pm on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in its meeting with PDP, BJP had tried to raise certain issues to get into news. Reports said by creating news BJP was trying to address its vote bank.

Meanwhile Sat Sharma told Kashmir Life that they are going to Raj Bhawan with PDP on Saturday at 3:30 pm. “We have already passed a resolution to support PDP and elected Dr Nirmal Singh as our leader,” Sharma said. “Nothing much happened.”

A BJP office bearer said prior to legislative party meeting, party’s core group meeting took place that was attended by Ram Madhav as well. It discussed the government formation, portfolios and size of the cabinet. He offered no more details.

Efforts to talk to Dr Nirmal Singh failed. He picked the phone and then snapped the line.

The PDP and BJP Friday evening resolved the last hitches as the latter was demanding three portfolios including Tourism, Finance and Planning and MoS Home, and now all the decks have been cleared for the government formation.
Both the leaders will be meeting Governor N N Vohra tomorrow afternoon to fix date for swearing-in, which will likely take place by the end of this month.
Sources said that PDP’s alliance partner, BJP, was demanding three portfolios, but PDP objected to the new demand, telling them that BJP has committed to go by the Agenda of Alliance and the portfolios that been already distributed between the two partners when former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed headed the alliance.
The final hitch was resolved by PDP leaders Abdul Rehman Veeri and Dr Haseeb A Drabu at the residence of BJP leader Bali Baghat, where BJP was represented by state president Sat Pal Sharma, MP Jugal Kishore.
Sources said the new hitches put by BJP prompted the alliance partners to request the Governor to reschedule their meeting.
“Now the meeting will be held with Governor N N Vohra at 3:00 pm tomorrow in which PDP president and chief ministerial candidate Mehbooba Mufti, MPs Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tariq Hameed Karra and BJP state chief Sat Sharma, Nirmal Singh and Jugal Kishore will be taking part,” sources said.
Sources said that a minor reshuffle of portfolios will take place and possibility of few new inductions cannot be ruled out.
Sources also said that both the parties have agreed that the budget will be passed through vote of account by the governor dispensation.
