While expressing sorrow, grief and shock over the death of Lassa Khan of Kokarnag who had shouldered coffins of 4 sons and 2 nephews, chairpersons of both the factions of Hurriyat Sunday prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
In a statement issued here, Geelani said that Lassa Khan was a symbol of “tragedies and repression which is being inflicted over the Kashmiris” and his is the story of about every household of Kashmir.
Geelani said that Lassa Khan had suffered a sea of tragedies throughout his life and today his death has shocked the entire nation. “I want to make a humble appeal to the Immams of the Masjids to organize special prayers for the deceased soul and I also appeal to the people to protect and respect the huge sacrifices of Lassa Khan like souls and don’t be part of any such activity which can in any way harm the mission of our martyrs,” he said.
Meanwhile, an APHC (m) spokesperson expressed condolence over the demise of Ghulam Rasool Khan alias Lassa Khan of Sone Brari, Kulgam and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Recalling the contribution of the deceased Hurriyat activist, the spokesperson said he had rendered a lot of sacrifices for Kashmir struggle by sacrificing every luxury of life for the future of Kashmir. His sons had been “martyred” and his life partner too had stood by his side in the most difficult times.
Praying to the Almighty Allah for granting Jannat-ul-Firdous to Khan, the APHC (m) spokesperson also prayed for granting patience and forbearance to his bereaved family.
Meanwhile senior Hurriyat (g) leader Nayeem Khan expressed grief and sorrow over the death of Khan and said Khan was the proud father of the son of the soil who gave his four sons and two nephews to the sacred cause of freedom.
In a statement issued here, Nayeem said Lassa Khan was courageous man who never felt dejected even after losing his four sons; Lassa Khan still continued to support “freedom”. (KNS)
