SRINAGAR
A massive snow avalanche on Saturday killed three persons in Banihal area of Ramban district including two women and a boy.
Reports said that a massive avalanche buried Hajra Gulshan and a 10 year old boy Parvez.
They added that the incident happened in Mahoo village of Banihal area.
The locals tried to save then by digging from the snow, however, they failed.
Meanwhile, local people alleged that the two women could have been saved if proper medical care were available.
“Both the women were breathing when digged out of the snow however, they succumbed soon,” they said.
Worth to mention that heavy snowfall was recorded in all the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir including Banihal which resulted in closure of the Srinagar-Jammu highway for four days.
Banihal lies along the same highway.
