Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq Khan Monday informed the House that Government would seek the funds from the Centre for one time relief to the poor families affected by the floods for construction of dwelling units under Indra Awas Yojana.
He said in this regard the matter shall be taken with the concerned Union Ministry.
The Minister was replying to the supplementaries raised by some members to the main question by Mohammad Abbas Wani in LA.
Khan said that Government is bringing more transparency in the working of the Rural Development Department and it should be ensured that IAY assistance would be provided only to deserving families.
He said the lists of IAY beneficiaries is prepared through PRIs and wetted by Ghram Sabha. He said the selection list so prepared by the Panchayats is also verified through a committee at district level, in order to ensure transparency in the identification process.
“75% financial assistance for construction of dwelling units is being provided to SC/ST population and 25% reserved for others under IAY,” he said.
Replying to the main question, the Minister informed that 1241 beneficiaries of Gulmarg Constituency have been provided financial assistance during last two financial years under IAY.
