Adm alert in wake of heavy rains: MoS Flood Control

Minister of State for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Flood Control Abdul Majid Paddar Sunday said that there is no flood threat in Kashmir Valley at the moment adding that the water logging has taken place due to incessant rains and blockage of drains in Srinagar city.


“People need not to worry as government has already put in place necessary measures and situation is being reviewed minute by minute,” he added


The Minister was briefing media here today about the situation arisen in Valley due to heavy rains.


Paddar said that the government is ready to face the challenges thrown by the inclement weather. He said that water levels at Sangam, Ram Munshibagh and Asham are not alarming at the moment and there is no panic situation at all.


The Minister of State said that Chief Minister has proceeded to Srinagar, besides a team of senior Ministers is also stationed at Srinagar who are monitoring the situation closely.


Paddar said that a special control room has been set up at Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar to monitor the situation round the clock. He appealed the people to contact on 2452138 or 2474040 in case of any eventuality. He said that the divisional and district administration is keeping close vigil on the situation.
