Police Monday recovered poppy straw and liquor from a Dhaba in Qazigund while a bootlegger was arrested in Srinagar.
“On a tip off, a police party of Police station Qazigund during a raid apprehended Shabir Ahmad Naik resident of Chowgam while buying Desi liquor (Fruity) from a Dhaba of Mohammad Abass Itoo at Damjam Morh, Qazigund,” the police spokesman said. “During the search of the Dhaba, police recovered 36 canes of illicit liquor and 04 kgs of Poppy Straw. However, the Dhaba owner managed to flee for the spot.”
Qazigund police has registered a case FIR no 32/15 under section 48 E Act and 12/18 NDPS Act and investigation has been taken up. Police team has been deputed to nab the accused owner of the Dhaba.
Meanwhile, a Police party of Police station Shergari arrested a bootlegger near Bostnan crossing along with 22 bottles of Gold brand Rum. The bootlegger identified as Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh resident of Doger Basti Haft Chinar was taken in to custody and a case FIR No: 22/2015 under section 48 Excise Act was registered against him. Investigation has been taken up.
