Hurriyat Conference led by veteran Syed Ali Geelani Thursday warned of “dire consequences” in case any harm to Masarat Alam Bhat.
“Indian politicians and media are portraying the recently released senior Hurriyat leader, Masarat Alam as a ‘dangerous man,” a Hurriyat statement said adding “we warn India of severe consequences in case of any harm to Masarat Alam.”
Hurriyat said that Masarat Alam is a respectable political figure, who had never committed any crime throughout his political career.
Meanwhile, thousands of people visited the recently released Hurriyat leader to express solidarity with him. The visiting people included political and religious leaders, intellectuals, lawyers, human rights activists and civil society members.
