A fresh batch of 76 aspiring entrepreneurs Thursday passed out from Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) after completing the three-week training programme.
Keeping up with the trend, 18 women were among the latest batch of entrepreneurship aspirants that passed out from JKEDI’s Pampore campus to take enterprise creation as their career option.
Women candidates shared their experiences at the valediction ceremony.
“There is dire need for women of Kashmir to gain economic independence and the institutes like JKEDI are an origin point for those who wish to compete in male dominant social setup. We are satisfied with our decision of choosing entrepreneurship as our career option,” said a group of girls who were part of the latest batch of aspiring entrepreneurs.
The aspiring entrepreneurs who completed the three-week Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) were part of two separate batches.
The unemployed youth, who are all set to start their own business ventures now, were exposed to a comprehensive training course (EDP) to equip them with what they need to start a profitable business.
The candidates trained were from varied educational background and have chosen manufacturing and services sectors as their lines of activity. They also had interactions with successful entrepreneurs.
The candidates have registered for the Seed Capital Fund Scheme (SCFS) – a key component of the state government’s Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY), and Youth Start-Up Loan Scheme (YSLS) being implemented by JKEDI.
