Heavy Snowfall Disrupts Life in Kashmir, Exams Postponed

SRINAGAR


Heavy snowfall across the valley Kashmir has put life at halt as power and water supplies are badly affected, on Monday.


Due to the situation arisen by heavy snowfall Kashmir University has postponed all its examinations scheduled for today and tomorrow.


Board of School Education has also announced the postponement of 12th class examination scheduled today.


The Srinagar-Jammu highway has been closed for every type of traffic. Traffic control room officials said that many avalanches have come over the highway in Ramban area however their clearance will be started only when weather permits.


As the valleyites woke up in the morning they witnessed a thick blanket of Snow all over.


About 8 inches of snow was recorded gathered in Srinagar city disrupting power supply.


More than two feet snow has been recorded in Shopian, three in Gulmarg, two in Pahalgam, one and half in Kulgam areas.


Reports of heavy snowfall have also reached from Chenab valley and Pir Panchal range.


Director, MeT Sonam Lotus has said that weather is likely to improve from today evening.
