Suspected militants snatch two rifles from policemen guarding political leader in Islamabad village

Suspected militants on Saturday night snatched two rifles from policemen guarding a political leader affiliated with JK Tehreek Bachao Party in south Kashmir’s Islamabad district.

Reports said that the militants snatched the rifles (AK-47 and Insas) from the personal security officers of Advocate Gowhar when he was visiting a relative’s home in Dabruna village of the district.

Gowhar is a resident of Aasnoor Watoo village of adjoining Kulgam district.

Police in a statement said that from the residence of a protected person at Dabran Islamabad two weapons have been taken away.

The PSOs were from security wing and Kulgam police respectively. The circumstances of the weapon disappearance is being investigated.

The Protected Person was apparently not present at his house. Police has registered a case and investigation has started.
