Jamaat expresses solidarity with plight of Kashmiri detainees

Srinagar

Jamaat-I-Islami Jammu and Kashmir on Monday expressed solidarity with all those detainees and convicts who are languishing in the local and far off jails only because of their commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have been deprived of their most precious right to self determination.

The spokesman said government has utterly failed to fulfil its promises made to people of Jammu and Kashmir through the security council a number of times and it is now denying to have made any such covenant with the people and is bent upon to suppress the genuine voice of the people and whosoever raises this demand is declared to be anti-national and a threat to the security of the state and involved in many cases and detained and deprived of their most precious rights of liberty and freedom of speech and even got convicted under false charges in the courts manned by them.

In addition to it, unjustified force is used to suppress this voice and a number of the black laws have been implemented giving unbridled powers to the civil administration and police and other forces for forcing the hapless people to surrender their genuine cause, the spokesman said.

The spokesman added that some leaders are languishing in these jails including Bashir Ahmad Lone, Ameer Zil’a Srinagar and some in Tihar jail Delhi including Shabir Shah.

Jamaat Islami demands the unconditional release of all political detainees and shifting all of them to the local jails and providing them with all basic facilities to which they are entitled to under the civilized laws of the world.
