JKEDI holds seminar on women entrepreneurship at Pulwama

The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Saturday held an awareness program cum seminar on women entrepreneurship at Government Degree College for Women, Pulwama.

More than 200 students of the college participated in the program based on the theme ‘Youth Empowerment- Let’s be Self Sufficient’. Chief Faculty JKEDI, Dr Majid Manzoor Khan, Principal GCW, Pulwama, Syed Farooq Andrabi, JKEDI Nodal Officer for Pulwama, Imtiyaz Ahad Malla, faculty members of both JKEDI and the college were present on the occasion.

During the seminar, six students of the college spoke on the theme of the program with special reference to women empowerment, unemployment, and women entrepreneurship. The speakers were felicitated jointly by JKEDI and the college and were awarded certificates.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Faculty JKEDI, Dr Majid Manzoor Khan said, “It is heartening to see such an overwhelming response of the students who came forward and expressed their views on topics of public importance. Entrepreneurship is the key to tackle increasing unemployment in the State of Jammu and Kashmir and youth have a major role to play.”

He said JKEDI shall continue to work in unison with other educational institutes of district Pulwama to further promote entrepreneurship and inculcate entrepreneurial mindset among the youth.

In his address Principal of the college, Syed Farooq Andrabi appreciated the efforts of JKEDI in organizing the awareness program for the students. He urged the students to further disseminate the information among their families, friends, and neighbors so that those seeking jobs get a chance to become job providers.

The program was aimed at making the participants aware that employment opportunities in the state are limited and the educated unemployed youth need to develop confidence and be the risk takers by choosing entrepreneurship as their career.
