Soon after a special police officer (SPO) was critically injured on Tuesday after he was fired upon by suspected militants in Pulwama, a senior journalist of Kashmir Ahmed Ali Fayaz on his twitter handle appealed general public for blood donation.
“According to SHO Ram Munshi Bagh Srinagar (9419004195) SPO Aqib Ahmad Wagay, who was shot in Pulwama, is critical at the hospital and needs 5 pints of B Negative blood urgently,” he wrote on Twitter.
Soon after the injured SPO was shifted to Srinagar, Ahmed Ali Fayaz says a number of people approached him asking where exactly the injured SPO is admitted as they wanted to donate the blood.
In another tweet, he wrote: “Hugely positive response to my midnight tweet. As many as 106 donors from armed forces besides many civilians reported at 92 Base Hospital to donate blood to the injured Railway Police SPO Aqib Wagay (23). 20 pints given to him. It saved his life. But his leg was amputated.”
SPO, Aqib Wagay son of Abdul Ahad Wagay was fired upon by suspected militants at Puchal village in Pulwama.
In the incident, Wagay, a resident of Panzagam Awantipora, suffered serious bullet wounds and was shifted to the nearby district hospital where from he was referred to Srinagar hospital.
